This past Thursday we were invited to meet up with Fire Monkeys over in Federation Square’s Beer DeLuxe.
Drinks, pizza and hordes of amazing game devs? You bet we went there!
Spotted throughout the crowd, we saw a few familiar faces- Ben and Clinton from Tin Man Games!
We stopped and talked to Ben and Clinton for a while about their gamebook games, and what went into making them, as well as the particular roles Ben and Clinton had working for Tin Man Games.
Met up with Duncan and Dewald from Wicked Witch, and that guy in the middle is Chris Diamond, a staff member of AIE Melbourne
This was the first time I’d spoken to anyone from Wicked Witch apart from Daniel Visser, so I was really interested in what they had to say, how many people were working at Wicked Witch (around 40!), as well as what it was like to
work there. (They said it was good, so they’ve either been trained really well or Wicked Witch is an awesome place to work at!)
And this handsome guy is Michéal Larkin, lead programmer of Big Ant Studios.
Michéal talked to us about the woes and pros of programming, and that currently there are 30 people working for Big Ant Studios (they live up to their name, har har)
Overall we had such a fantastic time, meeting dozens of new faces (sadly no more photos).
Melbourne’s game community is growing strong and steady, and this amazing night of networking was proof of that.
And remember –
The Early Worm catches the bird.
